Yeah, forgot to mention that, I used to do a fair bit of offroad on the SV650 with the Road 3s.

I had Pilot Road 3s on the SV650 for about 10k miles. The back was barely starting to show wear, and they actually worked well in the rain and snow. The shop happened to have the Road 4s in stock for the FZ8. I've only got about 200 miles on them so far, but they seem much better than stock...

I have a rather odd commute of stop an go traffic, with stretches of 85-100 mph freeway. I get about 37-40 mpg. When I go on trips with more consistent pacing, it's usually about 42-45 mpg.

As mentioned, we're gonna need some picks; I'd like a chain guard...

A lot of people seem to like the Graves exhaust. Personally, I don't want the bike to be 'too loud' given the area I live in, but, I too couldn't stand the only shinny part of the bike being discolored. I just ended up painting the stock headers and getting a slip on. Seems to have worked out well.

OP, if you can find one, a SV650 might be great for you. Still has a decent amount of torque, but is very friendly for new riders. Plus, as long as you don't break it in half or something, you can sell it in a few months, or years, for about the same you bought if for. Probably more if you get a...

I've noticed a slight rattle at certain RPMs, and haven't been able to find the cause for a long time. By accident, I tracked it down to the engine guard. I don't know when or how this broke, but the bike's never crashed, or even been dropped. And this is the OEM Yamaha guard :mad: WTF...

Yeah, that's normal, but annoying. I hit it with a rubber mallet a few times, seems to have helped.

I polished the headers on this bike once. I didn't really like it. So the next time I polished them with paint :p

Well done! When I got my FZ8, none of the dealers were willing to negotiate significantly, even though I was paying cash. Seems that every state is a bit different.

I got mine when I was 22, now 23. I went from an XR400 (dirt bike) to a SV650 when I was 19ish. Supersports are like lifted trucks....they're just for compensating :p
