Hacked stock exhaust. Nice sound

I would have saved my money for a Danmoto, as I think the standard pipe is hideous, but I understand the need for sound on a budget:)

It's great that you guys aren't afraid of cutting and modifying.

Yea rite now I wished I didn't but boy did I get a lot of compliments on te sound, askin if I had cams or what work I had done, but I'm done with it being loud, want it to pur down low and roar wide open

Sounds awesome! I really really like the look of the stock pipe and have thought on several times I'd like to play with it, but looks are the only thing I like about it, it's extremely too quiet and heavy. I knew it had to go when my friends Honda 650 cruiser sounded better than my bike. I think it would be neat to gut it and run straight pipes to the outlets. Even though it would be straight pipes the reduction in size would give a tiny bit of sound reduction.

I'm gonna have to get pics but I just did a similiar mod except I cut mine just ahead of the that separator in your picture, essentially I cut out an entire chamber and really eliminated a second as well, loud but not stupid loud and it has good tone

Alright, all you NEED is a tape meas. or a good guess if you aren't too particular, a sawzall, a drill and a rivet gun(with rivets of course).

Measure two inches from the end of the hanger bracket and I mean the two tabs that stick out. Then hack it off. Now I truly recomend a good chop saw or a metal band saw but that's only from the experience of doing it the way I did. Now drill the rivets out of the end cap. this part gets a bit sticky as the end cap has to be somewhat forcibly pushed inside the muffler casing. now you can measure and mark out the rivet holes for the end cap to use the originals but I just drilled my own where I wanted them. Once drilled pop in your rivets and you can bolt it on. I do suggest hitting the edges of the casing with a file or emory cloth or something prior to installing your end cap though just to remove any edges or burrs. You may also want to spray some high heat paint as you will have exposed metal.

In the end, I love it, it sounds like some of the older four-cyl. race cars like the old spitfires and such with a good build.

Yesterday I decided to have someone hack my exhaust. He basically cut abou an inch to an inch and a half from the tip of the exhaust. View attachment 646

I'll post some more pictures later and maybe a sound clip too. There's a lot more decel pops and the sound is much. Much deeper than stock. I friggin love it.

Sweet! looks good man! So I was thinking of doing the same thing you had done. i want a Two brothers exhaust but i like look of stock muffler.

I'm keeping my standard pipe in case a person in a blue uniform tells me the bike is too loud.

This American feels the same way. I live in a town that's notorious for setting speed traps. The real intention of them is just painfully obvious as revenue raising. The main road is 4 lanes with a wide divider and limited access. Speed limit 45 MPH. And they have one cop hidden in the bushes with radar and two more cops down the road to flag them down so the radar cop doesn't have to chase people down. Quite an efficient system.
