Well Friday I got home from work, my new E3 plugs had shown up. So I hop off my bike, let it cool a bit and then start pulling the plugs out. Remove the top of the radiator get to cyl #4 and replace plug no problem. Move on to #3, and its stuck, so I work at it for about 30 min, little pen oil, bounce the ratchet trying to get it to pop loose. Well after about 30 min it finally pops. Im like sweet, and start trying to remove it. Turning for a while and nothing happening I take my ratchet out, nothing in the socket. I use my magnet and put it down the cylinder, and here a clicking sound like something attached to the magnet. I pull it up and there is half a plug! Effin plug broke off in the cylinder head. Im pissed, I go to #2 cyl and get my torque wrench out, I reverse torque it to see if it will pop loose, I get up to 85 ft lbs and it still hasn't come loose.
I call the dealership where I bought the bike from and start explaining what happened. The little kid on the phone called me a back yard mechanic and that I deserve it breaking bc Im not a yamaha trainied tech. I went off on the kid, I run two shops, one with a gross of more than 3.75 mill in revenue, have 21 techs that work for me, certified diesel tech, and run a motorcycle shop out of my garage. By now I was livid, I load the bike up on the truck and drop the bike to the side, no damage, it landed in the yard, and when I get to the dealership that little effin kid is wearing a wyotech shirt. He isnt even out of school and treating customers like that. I have several words with the service manager, and their top tech, before I call the owner on my cell. I am pretty good friends with the owner, after a long afternoon the dealer is looking at the bike, and going to repair it. I am stopping by today to make sure the engine is out, and they are not going to try and helicoil the head. Uhhh, be careful when you guys are changing your plugs, if they feel tight, take it back to the dealer and make them replace them. I have never seen plugs in a head so tight! So now its a gorgeous week and I am out a bike!
