Bar end weights

Hey guys installing bar end mirrors today, I know there's multiple threads about this (sorry). Ummm, how to get the bar end weights off though? are they thread-locked or reverse threaded? I gave it some good jolts both ways and didn't break loose. Figured i'd ask before I start breaking shit.

I did this very mod last weekend.

I assume you are trying to remove the stock nut thats inside the bar, so you can mount your own adapter/mirror setup?

As others pointed out, you have to "Get Nasty" with these things. Get a drill out and drill out the black rubber ring in between the bar and the internal nut.

The rubber is actually about 1" long and goes all the way around the nut. Just start drilling holes into the rubber and then go back and fort with your drill to break sections free.

Once you've removed enough rubber, you can pull the internal 1" long nut out.

Clean up the internals of the Bar and you're Good to Go! ;)

No, but that will be my next step after I get them off thanks! But just getting them off, like I said I gave it some good tugs clockwise/counterclockwise and felt like either the bars would bend, or my alan wrench before that screw would break loose. So is it a reverse thread or have threadlock? Or am I just being a vagina.. lol

It took a good tug or two when I broke the stock weights free. But even then it was the industry standard, righty tighty, lefty....

You get the idea.

If you end up using a breaker bar to get these things lose, post a picture so we can all laugh :)

Sorry, yeah I walked out and busted it loose instantly *facepalm*. But did end up saying screw the insert part. Just added a small lock washer to the throttle side (to prevent it grabbing),got a longer bolt to make up the extension, rubber "o" ring to clean a minuscule gap. Sturdiness= Ill let you know!
