Depends on the temp you ride in, either 10w40 for cooler climates or 20w50 for hotter climates I would guess 20w50 in LA. I won't get into the oil debate, just use one that is designed to work with wet clutches, the recommended oil ratings are in your owners manual. I personally use a synthetic motorcycle oil, whichever one I can get on sale.

Ok, thanks for the replies guys! what oil do you guys recommend and what weight or example 20-40? idk sorry for the noob questions Ive never done any oil changes myself on any of my bikes but it just looks wayyyy to easy to have a mechanic do it for me. any suggestions ?
in your owners manual is recommendations for the climate you live in

First service 600 miles

Just went this pass sat for my first service. Went to Pasadena of yahama. Good group of folks. I like the home feeling since its is family owned. But the cost was good paid $310. And I did upgrade from regular oil to synthetic.

The bike feels more alive and grunty but I like it.
