what are the gains after remapping? I think the bike has enough power stock, I'm just wondering if the mods are worth it.
Brilliant post and instructions!!
the factory hole Yamaha uses is a joke and chokes the bike
How do you know that? Are you an engineer? Did you do any air flow calculations? Maybe that's as big as it needs to be and making it bigger has no benefit and may even have a downside. Maybe there is more to designing an intake than making the hole as big as possible.
Just throwing that out there for your consideration before you declare Yamaha's design a joke.
So is there a downside to plugging the AIS hose? I have an an aftermarket exhaust and don't like the "decel pop". Call it whatever you want but it's basically backfiring and does not sound good to my ears. But before I do this, I'd like to know if there is any possible downside to plugging the AIS hose. Thanks.

If I wanted more power, I would 've bought a bigger bike. I love the FZ8 for what it is. What I'm saying is, if I do all the mods possible, what do I say when my buddies stock CBR1000-RR blows me away in a race..............
Blocking the AIS doesn't eliminate popping on decel does it? I thought that's what the block off plates were for?
Changing to a high flow air filter and making the intake bigger is going to change the air/fuel ratio is it not?
Free mod, yes.
Benefits, maybe. I think probably very minimal though....
So in all, why do this if you're not going to run a power commander and do it properly?
Why would u be racing a liter bike... its gonna beat u regardless
... but after the PVC. Holy crap its like a new bike
Isn't this the point of mods.?, or is it just to beat stock 800's.......:rof:
