PVC maps, still learning might need a hand

Have a 2012 FZ8, with a Yoshimura R77D slip on and am going to get a K&N air filter. I have done some research on the Power Commander v 5 and think it would be pretty cool. However when I look on the DynoJet website for the fz8 PVC I cannot find a compatible map with my set up. I live in springfield Mo far away from a dynojet dealer or shop. So, my question is how would i go about getting an appropriate MAP downloaded for my set up?

After putting on the R77D I was like wow, sounds like a whole new bike, just thought it would be cool to try and tap into some of that power and torque. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

Just use one of the akro maps, it not gonna hurt anything just cause the maps not specifically for your exhaust, I would maybe be a little weary if u had straight threw exhaust like a mivv double gun

Okay, from what I gather there are 3 factors in deciding on a map to use.
1. Exhaust
2. Airfilter
3. The after market O2 sensor that comes with the PVC

It doesn't look like i have any viable options from dynojet. Also what is a Dbkiller? Im getting more and more lost haha. I might have to just go into my local yamaha shop but that will cost $$$$$

Hello fellow Springfield rider.

Jumbo is your man. He has a couple of maps that appear to work well with a slip-on and high-flow air filter.

For now, I have been using DynoJet's generic TwoBrothers/Stock Air Filter map, and it has worked well for me. Note, my exhaust is a MIVV GP.

Zomax,

im still learning here lol what is MIVV GP? mine is just a slip on. so you are using the 22-040-002 MAP, with a slip on and aftermarket air filter? sorry for the ignorant questions.
thanks again

The map is the 22-040-002. Per DynoJet, this map was developed from a
FZ8 that had a Two Brothers slip-on exhaust and a stock air filter.

The MIVV GP is just a different slip-on exhaust. As far as the map goes, I don't think having a Two Brothers slip-on, or in my case a MIVV slip-on, is that big of a deal. If someone knows this to not be true, then I am all ears.

Hello My name is ken and I'm basically in the same boat. Not only am i trying to figure out how to get a jumbo map for my fz8, I am also still trying to figure out my way around this forum. I just bought my bike brand new in April it was a 2012 leftover and when I first saw her she hadnt even had gas or a battery in her. When they pulled her around front for me to take her home she hadnt even gone a single mile yet. But enough about my love story. Since i got her Felicia is her name...I've done some basic mods DanMoto Gp slip on BMC high flow air filter. I just put a PVC in with a basic map but it still doesnt feel right. It definitely improved smoothness in 1st and 2nd gear But im still getting the crazy decel pop.

...But im still getting the crazy decel pop.

This decel popping has nothing to do with adding the PCV or mapping itself - directly, if you want to eliminate the popping all together. You likely still have a factory Air Induction System (AIS) unit installed on your FZ8. This AIS unit introduces cool air to help burn unspent fuel for emission purposes. In order to get rid of the decel popping you have two choices that I'm aware of. 1) remove the AIS and cap it off with AIS blockoff plates. 2) Pinch off the AIS tubes, or plug the primary AIS tube going up to your air box to prevent cool air getting in. I removed and capped my AIS, and it eliminated 95% of the decel popping for me. Trying different maps might alter the popping some, but it does not get rid of it like capping or removing the AIS system all together as I found out.

Use the Jumbo map man! Did you mod the airbox? Don't forget to spend the 20 bucks on the R6 throttle tube. Makes a big difference!

Going to do the air box mod, K and N, AIS disable, remove and blank 02 sensor, install PC5 (i think) and then get the maps going just need to be happy that i can get a good map before spending the money on the PC5. I will check out the JUMBO maps tonight for sure. will also do the R6 throtle tube. I have a list that gets a few things knocked off then it gets a few more added. There is something sweet about modding the FZ8!! Maybe the improvements you can get i don;t know having a machine do what it is not suppose to do or do a little better.

You can avoid all the AIS block off stuff and maps by just contacting Turbo Joe in California. He is on FB. $200 plus shipping and he flashes the ECU. Turn off AIS, Raise rev limiter, Take off the top speed limiter, Lower rad fan temp, and new ignition and fuel through out the rpms. Love it. 1 day turn around. I have the same R-77 pipe, K&N, and opened up the airbox.
