Ride height understanding the rear suspension

If the shock was longer, it would increase the ride height, and in turn mess up the bikes geometry. It would be quick to turn, but unstable at straight high speeds, and susceptible to tank slaps.

    Tips for adjusting your shocks.

I aim for 30mm-35mm in the rear, and 5mm-7mm more in the front. The bike will handle turns alot better without having oversteer.

What preload setting do you use on your stock shock?

Aim for around 35mm of sag in the rear, and you should be good.

    Tips for adjusting your shocks.

Exactly. There is not much you can do other than buy either a stock FZ1 shock, or any of the other aftermarket products available i.e Penske, Ohlins, Elka, etc

    Tips for adjusting your shocks.

The stock shocks have very little to no rebound dampening. Increasing the prelaod would indeed put more load on the spring and cause it to "kick" more. The goal of a rebound adjuster is to slow down the springs memory so to speak. Since the rebound is too fast, it is causing chatter.

unfortunately, the vast majority of the "remedies" listed are not available because of the limitations on the stock shocks.

just got my fz8 have a few questions and some photos

As we say in Quebec...Crisse de beau bike mon homme !! Seems like you have some good aesthetic and performance mods on there already, but you may want to consider suspension at one point. With our outstanding roads in Quebec ( yeah right), you may notice that the suspension needs a little help.

With all due respect, at this juncture I have no choice to believe the following: A) You paid little or no attention to the facts the video provide in any way , shape, or form B) You are so blind with anger towards non motorcyclists, that you absolutely refuse to listen to reason regardless of...

Is it possible that you have not viewed the video? Or followed any of the news reports of the incident? Its not as cut and dry as simply adjusting your speed to let them go.
