That's normal, the addition of an aftermarket exhaust etc also makes it pop even more. I gutted the cat and added a slip-on so I had a lot of pops and I prefer a smoother sound so I eventually got AIS Block off plates from Graves that eliminated 90% of the pops and cleaned up the engine a bit.

Years ago I remember threads on hear where people were trying to find a solution to beat up, discolored and rusty headers on the 8. This is where I was introduced to Jethot Ceramic Coatings. I finally pulled the trigger and did it! The results are amazing!!!! Final cost was $200 FYI so worth it...

I have been using 14mm aluminum crush washers from Cycle Gear (trackside brand) for years now and I haven't had any issues. They are a little thicker and the outer Dia. Is a little bigger than stock but they work fine!
